New Line-up!

For Immediate Release

Hammers Of Misfortune has a new line up! First of all, original drummer Chewy has returned to the fold. This is great news and we are thrilled to have him back!

As for Vocals, we have two new members, Patrick Goodwin (Dirty Power) is playing guitar and assuming duties as our male lead vocalist. Jesse Quattro (Secret Chiefs 3, Carniceria) is our new Female vocalist. We're very excited to have Chewy back, and some excellent new voices in the band. We expect this line-up to be our best yet. This line-up is confirmed to debut at the South By South West showcase in Austin TX, in March of '07. There will undoubtedly be shows prior to this, but they are a secret at the moment...

Hammers Of Misfortune official line-up:

Chewy - drums
Ron Nichols - bass
John Cobbett - guitar, etc.
Sigrid Sheie - piano, organ
Patrick Goodwin - voice, guitar
Jesse Quattro - voice, etc.

I've just read a small conversation with John Cobbett on a metalmusic-related website http://www.lordsofmetal.nl/showinterview.php?id=1513 I'd never heard of your band (project ?) before, and the talk & the (beautiful)bandphoto & the attitude made me curious. Why is Cobbett playing dumn when he is asked about the album artwork ? I thought a question about a possible (miss)reception of the symbolism sounds perfectly legitimate to me. I don't mind him disliking all-too-stupid questions or adolescent 'metal-dude' behaviour in general, but his answer seems very artificial, yes even pointing towards the opposite. I can imagine bands such as Slayer or several Blackmetal-bands being asked the same questions regarding their imagery. For Slayer, it's just silly fun, with some blackmetalband, i suspect deep sentiments. I must say, i haven't heard the band yet, and i most certainly will, but this attitude somewhat annoyed me. This attitude/imagery i spot among several military-industrial-folk-type bands, it seems all too deliberately incorporated into their whole package. (Oh, excuse me, it just ART, way above my cerebral capacity. ?) John. ps. reading(! i'm not commenting) Blabbermouth nowadays isn't half as much fun as it used to be, the mud-throwing has been banned. Citation: Aren't you afraid people might get the wrong impression by looking at the artwork and stay clear of Hammers Of Misfortune? Again, I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean that the cover looks fascist in some way? If this is the case then I'm not worried at all. This is consistent with the themes on the album. Anyone who confuses us with a Nazi band is so off base that it's hardly worth worrying about

The question wasn't specific enough for me. It brought up possible misreading of the artwork, but didn't say how. For all I could tell he was referring to it being too colorful or flowery or whatever. So I took a guess. As I said in my answer, the imagery comes from the lyrics; the military/imperial look is intentional. How is this being artificial?

I regarded your answer artificial in the sense that it sounds like you almost expect to be 'attacked', 'labelled', 'cornered' or whatever with regard to the artwork. This does not need to be the case necessarily. (Maybe the question felt suggestive, i wasn't there) Personaly i'm not offended by the artwork, i like it, i can imagine the grandeur in the music, to give you my perspective. I've been a fan of wide spectrum of music for a long time, metal-ish music being among it, so i've seen quite some imagery, grim, dark, frightening, laughable, plain silly, beautiful, and so on. (I can handle another Slayer-like Eagle) hope this answer your question.
